Terrence and I met at work. I started the conversation by telling him about our family gatherings and all of the different foods that we cooked. I would take him fried pies, homemade macaroni and cheese, homemade lemon meringue pie with the meringue burnt and I said, "See what you've been missing". You know the saying, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. I invited him to come over. At first, he did not come. On one Sunday afternoon, guess who pulls up in his Expedition unannounced? My brother-in-law said, "Wonder where he goin' we don't know him, do you know him? I said, "Yes, I know him." He got out of the truck and I introduced him to my brother-in-law. After a few interactions with him, I told him that I needed him to do me a favor. He was willing and I said, "You don't even know what it is yet." He said, "It doesn't matter, I will do it." I said, "I need you to pick up my son." He agreed. Soon after, my son broke his finger playing basketball in aftercare at school. Terry found out that we were at LeBonheur but he did not know which location we were at so he went downtown and we weren't there. He then came to the location we were at and when my son saw him, he said "Momma, you need to give him a key" and that was the beginning of our love story.
