How it all Began

May 2, 2022

Just 2 days after signing up for LDSSINGLES, Jerome spotted Stacy’s picture and thought, “There’s something different about this girl," and sent her a smile. Stacy then viewed Jerome’s profile and was intrigued by the fact that he had served his mission in Jamaica--Stacy’s dream vacation destination since watching "Cool Runnings" as a teenager. On May 2, after a couple of days of texting, they met for dinner at Ruby River’s steak house, in Provo. Stacy practiced her listening skills as Jerome talked non-stop, relaying his miraculous 4-month battle with COVID! He even showed Stacy his large abdominal scar from a life-saving surgery. During the dinner, it was discovered that the mother of Jerome’s childhood best friend had gone to prom with Stacy’s dad! Having enjoyed their dinner, but not feeling any major sparks, they ended the date with a hug, a wardrobe malfunction, and best wishes in their respective dating ventures. However, something kept urging Jerome to ask Stacy out again, and after several more dates, the sparks began to fly!

The courtship

After several weeks of dating, including yummy dinners, in-depth conversations, and dates with multiple other people, Stacy and Jerome decided they didn’t want to days anyone else and chose to be exclusive. They started introducing each other to their kids and family members and the connections kept surfacing. The most shocking one…Jerome lived in the apartments Stacy’s parents owned while he was in college! After a crazy 4th of July weekend with multiple exhausting events and 2 nights of very little sleep, including getting soaked by the sprinklers in the middle of the night while sleeping on the streets of Provo, Stacy and Jerome decided they could face any adventure that life would throw at them, as long as they could do it together! Plans for a wedding began!!

The Proposal

August 2, 2022

The ring was purchased, but Jerome was not able to propose until multiple requirements had been fulfilled. He had to speak to the most important people in Stacy’s life…her kids, her mom, and all 6 of her siblings, and Stacy had to speak to each of Jerome’s kids and meet the Jensen Family who had introduced him to the gospel and became a second family to Jerome. It was not an easy task, but a 24-hour trip to Blanding was made and appointments with siblings were scheduled. Stacy received a text from her sister saying she was meeting with Jerome on August 7 during a planned trip to California. Stacy was disappointed to learn that she would not have a ring on her finger during their California trip. A few days before, Jerome told Stacy that he had set up a dinner date with one of his best friends, Doug and Robyn Ellis. Stacy was especially excited to meet these friends as they were related to her good friend, Tamara Hall, and she had actually already met a couple of their kids through Interactions with Tamara! The dinner was scheduled at the Foundry Grill in Sundance, chosen because Doug, supposedly, knew the chef. Jerome had told Stacy to dress nicely as it was a nice restaurant. Thankfully Abby had an idea what might actually unfold during the date and made sure Stacy looked especially nice. On the car ride up to Sundance, Stacy realized that she had missed her chance to talk to Christian, who was serving his mission, and only allowed to talk to family once a week. Jerome brushed it off and said, “we’ll just have to talk to him next week”. Disappointed even more that the proposal wouldn’t be able to happen for at least another week, Stacy tried to calm herself down and not micromanage Jerome’s proposal. Jerome could sense her disappointment and said, “I haven’t figured out what I’m going to do yet, but I promise you’ll be surprised!” Stacy tried to stop thinking about it and when Doug texted to say they were running late, Stacy was excited to show Jerome the beautiful venue at Sundance that she had toured as a potential wedding site. As they approached the venue, there was a barrier and a sign stating “private party”. There was no one around, but the tables were dressed and ready for guests. Anxious that someone would kick them out of the area before she got the chance to show Jerome, she dragged him up the walk way toward the venue. Jerome kept stopping and looking at the stream. “What are you doing?” Stacy asked. “Just looking to see if the fish are jumping”, he replied. All of a sudden Stacy noticed a woman approaching them. Even more nervous that they were going to get kicked out, she grabbed Jerome’s hand and hustled him along. They went up and around the building and the woman continued to follow them. She had a camera and kept stopping behind pillars and taking pictures of them and the scenery. She continued to follow them and taking pictures, and Stacy assumed that she was an aspiring photographer and found a cute couple, walking around in the majestic Sundance mountains, to take pictures of for practice. All of a sudden Jerome stopped and hugged her. Stacy hugged him back and was staring down the lens of this mystery photographer. Contemplating wether or not she should approach this woman and tell her too knock it off, her thoughts were interrupted when Jerome started kneeling. Still clueless, Stacy exclaimed, “what are you doing?!” It wasn’t until he reached into his sock and pulled out a little black box, that everything became clear! He popped the question, and Stacy said, “yes!” Followed by, “that’s Ashlyn (Doug’s photographer daughter) isn’t it?!” “Yup! And Doug and Robyn aren’t joining us for dinner! And I’ve already spoken with all 6 of your siblings!” They then enjoyed a candlelight dinner! A week later, they told Christian the big news! Thankfully, he gave his blessing under one condition… Jerome and Stacy buy a boat! Story to be continued…
