Stacy and Clayton's Story

Stacy and Clayton met on the Facebook Dating App on April 16, 2025—the day after Stacy’s birthday. From the very beginning, timing and purpose were at work. Clayton was standing in one of the most pivotal seasons of his life. His dad—his best friend—was in the midst of transitioning to heaven. Only two days after they met, Stacy prayed for Clayton and encouraged him, reminding him what an honor it was to hold his father’s hand as he entered the presence of heaven and the arms of Jesus. That moment marked the beginning of a friendship rooted in faith, compassion, and deep understanding. As their friendship grew, Stacy introduced Clayton to the five levels of relationship—a moment Clayton will never forget. Long phone calls and Face Times filled their days. Stacy lived in Georgetown, while Clayton lived in the Dallas area, three to four hours apart—but distance never slowed them down. On May 9, 2025, Clayton drove to Georgetown to meet Stacy face to face for the first time. He took her to her favorite restaurant on the Georgetown Square and surprised her with a gift that showed just how closely he listened: a football signed by Donald Driver, Green Bay Packers Hall of Famer and Super Bowl Champion. Stacy, a lifelong Packers fan, sensed immediately—this man was different. The calls and Face Times continued, and Clayton began making weekly drives to Georgetown. From the very beginning, Stacy told him, “You will never meet anyone like me.” Clayton knew she wasn’t exaggerating. On June 3, 2025, Clayton again held a parent’s hand into heaven—this time his mom’s. Three days later, Stacy stood beside him at the gravesite, holding his hand. That day marked the beginning of their committed Level 3 relationship. Stacy told Clayton she wasn’t afraid of grief, death, or tears. Clayton hugged her—and then took her to eat at the Fish Barn. From there on, Clayton continued to “burn the highway” to see Stacy as often as possible. They met each other’s families, friends, and church communities. They shared faith, laughter, and friendship—and became best friends. Together they prayed, read the Bible, lifted weights, took walks, ate plenty of steak dinners, and spent meaningful time with family, friends, and church. They took relationship classes, dreamed boldly, and made plans to spend the next 30 years together. On December 31, 2025, Clayton asked Stacy to be his wife. She said she would be honored to become Mrs. Clayton Shults.
