A lot of history and memories reside in this church for my family and me. St. John's was built by my maternal grandmother's family in 1872, along with other descendants from Germany whose families still attend today. My grandmother, Elsie (Oberdiek) Moppin, was baptized and confirmed here over 90 years ago. My mother, Peggy (Moppin) Tyler, was also baptized and confirmed and then married my father, Steve, 44 years ago. Barney and I will soon be standing at the same altar saying “I do”. In fact, I’ll also be wearing my mother’s (redesigned) wedding gown, to honor memories and to celebrate a lifetime of love that started in this very church many years ago.
For over 5 years, Barney drove past Farley and St. John's on his way to Fort Leavenworth when he was on active duty. Little did he know, his future would change in that brick church in Farley on Main Street.
We're looking forward to celebrating with you and creating more memories in this place!
