The Story Of Us

The following poem, was written by Peter Mauger. It illustrates the history, and union of himself, and Stacy Martinez. I Love That It's You We met in the autumn of 2004. My first time at Street Church - I strolled through the door. I saw you sitting at a table, with a smile. So, I sat down beside you, and we spoke for awhile. Every Friday, I would surely drop in. For hot dogs & socks, and to see you again. From Salt Lake, To Portland, 1,000 miles in my shoe. The first friend I met. I love that it's you. Time drifted off. Circumstances of life. Some tucked in wonder. Some sliced by a knife. Talking, and laughing. Tugging you close. Suddenly Fleeing, I raced to the coast. Off to the Bay, swept up in a storm. Lending your aid. A raft with an oar. Step off the Greyhound. It was ten after Noon. Your sweet kindness saved me. I love that it's you. Years in the wind. Our lives grew apart. Stopping in at times, to reconnect heart. Off on my hijinks. Sewing wild oats. Tears in the rainfall. Floating paper boats. Heartbreak befell me. My baby daughter gone. You remained at my side, in the clearing of dawn. Friends come and go. Yet, there are those who stay true. To you, my dear Stacy, I love that it's you. Sometimes we search after which we don't need. For me, it was substance. A gluttonous greed. Attempting to weave some joy in the stitch. Most hopes forsaken, in the depths of a ditch. Twenty years after, the first time we met. It's brought home to me now; there is hope to steal yet. After countless days numbered, and past lives are through. We are talking again. I love that it's you. Excursions, excursions. Falling in love. Render to God. Heaven above. Gentle moments spent, wrapped in your arms. Lost in your eyes. Immersed in your charms. Ocean heart woman, your waters dazzling, and deep. I have always loved you. You're beautiful, and sweet. The years far behind us. Who could have knew. Our tender love would flower. I love that it's you.
