Stacie noticed Hoang a few rows behind her on the airplane and asked the flight attendant to change seats so she could sit next to him. There was just something about him. She switched seats and they laughed the entire way from Alabama to Philadelphia. Once they landed back in Philly, they went out for burritos and the rest is happily ever after. Just kidding. We met online. After an animated conversation about burritos, we decided to meet in person. It was late on a rainy Sunday - Stacie was tired from showing houses all day and considered canceling. Hoang was on his last rotation in his second year of med school and was just about to leave the hospital for their blind date when a woman puked on him. He really didn't feel like going out after going home to change. It was worth it. Hoang brought his corny jokes and magic tricks and Stacie's stomach hurt from laughing (at) him. Our first month together was bliss. Poke bowls, beach days, coffee shops, and lots of laughs. And then it was time for Hoang to begin studying for the most intense and career-determining exam of medical school. Hoang tried to explain the importance of the exam to Stacie, but she still didn't understand why he had to study on the 4th of July instead of going to the beach. She did some googling and found online forums for significant others of med students and started to understand why the beach days were on pause. A month later, Hoang finally took the Step 1 exam - woohoo (of course he crushed it)! In celebration, we spent a few days in New England, eating lobster rolls, soaking up the sun, and avoiding seagulls. We learned in our first few months together how to support each other and soak up every moment together. Since then we've weathered career changes, a pandemic, raising a crazy puppy, and so many more challenges. With each day, we've grown stronger, closer, and more thankful we found one another. We're so excited to finally celebrate with you!
