Jon and Staci met at the doorstep of a mutual friend’s house. Staci immediately had all of Jon’s attention, and he wanted to catch hers so they started talking. She loved baseball and happened to be watching a game on TV so Jon pestered her with questions - but, in his usual way, was stubborn about it. So much so that he made her both laugh and get flustered with him; but she noticed him. His plan worked.
Some time had gone by since Jon and Staci first met and Jon was shy and couldn’t muster the courage to call Staci just out of the blue. Thankfully for him, he remembered she told him stories about people who left mean messages for her at work, so he got her work number and left a snide message on voicemail. He wanted to get her to call him back, and she did! They hung out with friends a few more times. Jon had eyes for Staci the whole time. One night after Jon worked up the courage, he asked Staci on a date wine tasting. At least, that’s how he remembers it - Staci says he only asked if they could hang out. What’s important is that she said yes. From that “date” on, Staci was smitten and her love for Jon grew and many more real dates followed. She shared her interests with him quickly. When Jon was back after a few months abroad for college Staci introduced him to her favorite baseball team, the Giants, at a game in San Diego and after Staci moved to the Bay Area while Jon finished college in Long Beach, she took him to many more games in San Francisco.
At dusk on a cool night in September, on the pier outside the ballpark they had been to together many times now, Jon got down on one knee and Staci couldn't wait to say, Yes!!
