Greg and Stacey were introduced on Labor Day of 2012 by mutual friends. They hit it off and had a lot in common from the beginning, but the timing wasn't quite right (and Greg didn't quite get it when Stacey gave him a huge hug before she left!). Skip to the Company Holiday Party at the Walden Barn that December. Stacey needed a date, and asked her co-worker and friend Becky if she thought Greg might want to be accompany her, since he knew a few of her co-workers and they had already met months earlier. Thankfully Greg was available that evening, and as usual Stacey was running late for the event. When she arrived, she was pleased to see Greg mingling with her coworkers and charming his way into the conversations. As the evening progressed, his charm was more evident to Stacey and before dessert she took his hand to let him know that she was having a good time with him that evening. A second date two days later, and the rest is history! The two grew very close in a short period of time and moved in together in May of 2013. Greg happily accepted Stacey and her two dogs, and their life together was set in motion.
Stacey is not about making things easy for anyone, especially Greg! He had been planning the proposal but timing never seemed to work out. His plan of proposing on New Year's Eve was shot down when Stacey invited friends and family for dinner that night. After they left, he thought his opportunity may present itself later that evening, until Stacey invited their neighbors for a toast before midnight to ring in the New Year! The next morning an excited Greg got up around 6:30 to set the stage. Not realizing that Stacey was indeed serious about sleeping in that day … until after 10:30! When she finally rose from her slumber, she proceeded to stop and play with the dog, taking her time to get up and leave the room. Finally Greg had grown impatient, grabbed her by the hand, and took her to the guest room where he had created the scene - a string of Christmas lights in the shape of a heart outlined two glasses of champagne with the ring sitting between them. Stacey's first thought wasn't "Oh my gosh, it's happening!" It was “Why did Greg bring Christmas lights upstairs and why are there glasses of champagne on the floor?!" It wasn't until she looked at him and he asked "So will you marry me or what?" that she fully grasped what was going on, and was speechless - instead of speaking, hugging Greg and crying. "I'll take that as a yes" he said, and when she finally was able to speak and say“Yes", he got down on one knee and put the ring - a truly beautiful and unique ring just like she wanted - on her finger.
