Vietnamese Tea Ceremony

While a traditional tea ceremony is an intimate family ritual, we are so excited to share these beautiful steps with all of our guests. The ceremony typically lasts about 30 to 45 minutes and follows a meaningful flow. We will be doing a modified version of this.

1 - The Procession & Gifts

Groom's Entourage Arrives

The groom's family enters bearing red lacquer gift trays (Mâm Quả) filled with traditional offerings. The bride's family greets them at the entrance to accept the gifts and welcome them inside.

2 - The Bride's Entrance

The Greeting

While the families introduce themselves and open the gifts, the bride is then escorted out to formally meet the groom.

3 - Blessing the Ancestors

The Altar

The couple lights incense at the ancestral altar together, paying respects to the generations that came before them and asking for blessings on their new marriage.

4 - Serving the Tea

Honoring the Elders

The couple serves tea to their parents and elders using both hands as a sign of utmost respect. The elders offer blessings, marriage advice, and traditional gifts of jewelry or red envelopes.
