Cody and Stacey met online in 2014. Their first date was at Argus downtown where they talked and watched the Wisconsin-Nebraska football game. Stacey later found out that Cody picked Argus because it had a back entrance near the bathrooms where he could make an escape if need be. Happily, he didn’t. Date two was at the Rigby with a couple of beers and Cody showing off on the jukebox. His two most memorable choices were “The Pina Colada Song” by Rupert Holmes and “Big Country” by Big Country. The former let Stacey know that Cody was comfortable being himself instead of trying to impress her, and the latter is just a solid choice that not enough people appreciate. Next was a date to eat dumplings and see Whiplash followed by drinks at the Great Dane. Their next movie date was Christmas Vacation and that night they decided to make like Clark and Ellen Griswold and spend the holidays and beyond as a committed couple. After several happy years of attending hockey games, weekend trips to Chicago, visiting burger drive-ins around Wisconsin, and adopting their puppy Bruce Wayne the Bat Dog, Cody proposed in their living room during the summer of 2021. Cody and Stacey are happiest just being in each others’ company so it felt right being part of their normal day to day. Bruce was overwhelmed by their joy and jealous of not being the center of attention for the first time since his adoption so they went immediately to the dog park so that he could run out his energy. Bruce is happy to report he has reclaimed his spot as the most important thing in the room. Due to the ongoing pandemic wedding planning took a backseat to buying a house, but Stacey and Cody are elated to finally celebrate their union with you this coming April.
