John Turner wanted to find a forever partner but was always working, on the road. His heart had been broken so many times. He still had hope and decided the best way to find someone was on Facebook and joined a group of single members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Two days later, Staccey Wright was starting to believe good, faithful men were endangered, and that they only mated with the fairest in the land. She too decided to search worldwide and joined the same singles group. After getting a feel for the group, Staccey's first post got John's attention. John thought Staccey’s post was funny and liked her sarcastic banter. He decided to be brave and sent a private message to her. She accepted and they started chatting. After 2 days of messaging each other, John asked Staccey on a date. He would make arrangements with work to get him to her in two weeks so they could meet. Staccey agreed. It was just a date after all…. Days went on, John and Staccey spoke on the phone morning, noon and night. They decided to start praying together each night, a new tradition. The big marathon weekend date quickly approached. They laughed, they read scriptures together, they sent jokes to each other, they left little hints on the group posts for each other to find. All the while, something was slowly changing. John knew one night after praying together he wanted to be with Staccey. Staccey wasn’t ready to commit. They hadn’t met in person, he was still a figment of her imagination until they actually met, and he was the same in person as he seemed. The figment of her imagination became nicknamed as "Fig Newton". She held back and kept looking, chatting with others and wondering how many cats would officially make her crazy.
Finally, the date was the next day. John drove all night to see Staccey and she stayed up to talk to John on the phone to make sure he stayed awake. When they finally met, John kissed her while the radio played “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran (I am actually not kidding, and sorry for the sugar overload) while John said it was perfect at the same time. As they drove to Staccey’s place, there was a rainbow over her place (yep for real). For the next 78 hours, they spent every moment they could together, with the kids, bowling, and at church. They would lay under the stars on a sleeping bag and talk, laugh (so hard there were various ugly repercussions) cry and tell every secret, fear, past mistake and weakness they had. They put everything in the open. They fasted and prayed to know what was true, to know if they could trust their feelings, break from past choices and start new. After church, we had our pictures taken by our friend, Ali Howell. www.everydaylifephotography.blogspot.com As Staccey drove away after John returned to work, the same song “Perfect” played again (Seriously??? ) It was the most fun both had experienced in a very long time, and the start of a lot more.
