Johnny and Laura technically met back in 2007—Laura went to school with Gianna, Johnny’s younger sister. At the time, Johnny was the “cool older brother” who was always breezing in and out, never around for long. They followed each other on social media over the years, but their paths didn’t truly cross again until 2016. While working the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, Laura ran into Johnny and Gianna. She caught Johnny’s eye, but he didn’t make a move. Fast forward to 2019—Johnny posted a funny Instagram story, and Laura replied. (If you ask Johnny, he’ll say she “slid into his DMs.”) That message sparked a conversation, and on July 31st, 2019, they had their first date at Houston’s. In March 2020, as COVID hit, they decided to stock up Johnny’s place for what was supposed to be “two weeks of lockdown,” and Laura planned to head back to her apartment after. But those two weeks turned into something more. When Laura tried to leave, Johnny asked her to stay—and she did. She gave up her lease, and they’ve lived together ever since. In November 2024, the couple took a cruise with Johnny’s parents. Some of Laura’s friends asked if she thought he’d propose, but she was certain he wouldn’t—he didn’t even have a ring! (Or so she thought—he kept putting off ring shopping with a casual “We’ll go next week!”) Turns out, he had a plan all along. On November 13th, while snorkeling in Cozumel, Mexico, Johnny dove underwater and came back up with a ring in hand. Laura’s first reaction was to yell, “DID YOU FIND THAT?!” Laughing, Johnny asked her to marry him. After the initial shock wore off and she realized he was serious, she said YES! Safe to say—Johnny pulled off the surprise. Johnny and Laura are so excited for this next chapter of their lives, and can’t wait to celebrate with you!
