The First Meeting Throughout her life, Sree always had a clear picture of the kind of man she prayed for. In her final year of BA at the University of Hull, she began her journey with Jesus. Out of nowhere, faith became her anchor and in Christ she found peace. Still, she often wondered and prayed, “God, am I really going to meet the man I’m meant to be with?” One ordinary day, their paths crossed. Sree accidentally stepped in front of Fortune while on FaceTime with her friend, laughing loudly and completely in her own world. Fortune looked at her and thought, “This girl is completely oblivious.” Days later, they bumped into each other again near their lectures and exchanged a few words in the hallway. Just like that, they parted ways without even knowing each other’s names. The Beginning Weeks later, Sree hosted a dinner party for a friend. Just 20 minutes before it began, her friend asked if he could bring someone along. Normally strict with her plans, she surprisingly said yes. His name was Fortune. When he walked in, Sree’s heart nearly stopped. It was him. She pretended not to know him, asked him to sit opposite her, and soon the two were deep in conversation about life, faith, and university. Everything felt seamless, as if they had known each other forever. From that moment on, their story began to unfold naturally. They started texting, going out with friends, praying together, singing together, dancing together and enjoying each other’s company. One evening, during a Nigerian dinner with friends, they were sent out to buy fufu. On that walk, Fortune reached for her hand, and she held his. Sree turned to him and said, “I’m not messing around, you better marry me.” Without hesitation, Fortune smiled and replied, “I will marry you.” The Promise Not long after, Fortune took Sree to a jewellery shop and bought her a ring. He told her, “This is a sign of my commitment to you and my love for you.” (This was their first proposal, but with a small ring). What he did not know was that it was the very same ring Sree had bought for herself a year earlier as a reminder to love herself more. Only God could write a story so perfect. The Proposal In December 2024, Fortune proposed with Sree’s dream ring in her favourite place in Yorkshire, a quiet village called Barton. It was everything she had ever prayed for. The Wedding From the very beginning, they both knew they wanted to marry with God at the centre. As they prayed and sought Him, God made it clear and pointed them in the right direction: June 2025. They obeyed His voice and were married in the most intimate way, just them, Jesus, and their immediate family and friends. It was simple, emotional, and absolutely perfect. The Celebration Ahead Now, with that beautiful chapter complete, Sree and Fortune are ready for the next. In 2026, they will celebrate their love once again with more of their friends and family. Still intimate, but a little bigger. And I know you’re wondering… “Why are they getting married twice?” Well, why not!
