How Dan and I met was completely college. We met at the bar while playing quarters in a booth with our fraternity brothers and sorority sisters. Looking back now, I picture it with my "rose colored glasses" on but in reality it was just another Pitcher Night at Mcduff's. We sat across from each other "accidentally" brushing legs or taking random snapchats of each other while also attempting to focus playing quarters. (Okay so the snapchats were all Courtney but Dan was smooth saying "if you're going to take snaps of me, you might as well give me your snapchat.") After two hours or so, we were pulled into opposite directions that ended our night. Dan didn't let this stop him. We snapchatted almost everyday for the rest of October until we exchanged numbers. He quickly became someone I spoke to everyday and was excited to see.
In the two months prior to Dan and I dating, he won my heart over while opening his to me. We were together the last three semesters while Dan was attending Clarkson University. Once we left Potsdam, NY, we were in a long distance relationship for three years. In those three years, we have traveled a whole lot more than I realized until writing this. From countless travels between Syracuse and Kings Park, planning our anniversary trips to Boston, Poconos, and Washington D.C., to our first overseas travels to Ireland. In January 2019, Dan moved to Clifton Park, NY then in six months later, I moved in with him. After five blissful years (that's what everyone says right but like come on long distance sucks and first moving in together is tough but I digress) I proposed to Dan with a twisty tie after a little too much Champagne.. I recorded it and everything because I apparently like to document these types of moments. As we sat at our Clifton Park apartment, in the living room, I am in my fluffy pajama pants on one knee. Dan looked at me and didn't say anything to me for a solid five seconds to then say "maybe one day if I decide to ask you." I rolled my eyes and had no idea a month later Dan would be down on one knee asking me to marry him.
