We're Getting Married

Our journey began back in middle school, when we started out as friends. It all kicked off at a late skate in 6th grade when Tommy asked me out. Of course, at that age, I had no idea that “Will you go out with me?” actually meant a real date. So, Tommy, standing outside watching as I got into my car, probably thought, “Well, that went well!” But in true Tommy fashion, he gave me a second chance—and that was the start of everything. When it came to the proposal, well, the timing could not have been more perfect. For years, everyone joked about when it would happen. But I knew Tommy so well that I never pressured him—he’s the kind of person who, the more you push, the less likely he is to do it! Then, during the summer of 2024, he casually asked me if I wanted to get my finger sized and look at rings. My heart literally exploded! But what Tommy really wanted was to keep everything a surprise—so, of course, no one knew except for my dad, who was asked for his permission just an hour before the proposal. On the day of the proposal, I was upstairs showing my friend Abby around, completely unaware of what was about to happen. When I came downstairs, there was Tommy, on one knee, with both of our dogs sitting right beside him, ready for the big moment. He looked up at me with the biggest smile I’ve ever seen and asked, “Sam, will you marry me?” I was beyond thrilled—and, honestly, it was the most Tommy and Sam proposal you could imagine. I loved every single bit of it. We have had the privilege of growing up together, navigating life’s challenges and triumphs, and growing stronger through it all. We’re so incredibly lucky to have found a love like this, and we can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives making memories together.
