Let's Get Married!

We met in the most romantic way known to Millennials, Tinder. At the time neither of us knew what would come with our super likes and right swipes. We came upon each other's profiles and noticed many mutual friends all from Camp Glisson, the summer camp we worked for during college. This led to the first of many messages over the next few weeks. From our conversations, we both knew that the person on the other side of the phone was very unique and special. When Devan was planning the first date he wanted it to be different than a typical dinner and drinks. He took what he knew about Tori's love for breakfast and coffee and planned the perfect first date. We had our first date over breakfast and coffee at J. Christopher's in Downtown Woodstock.

From Tori's perspective: The Sunday before Thanksgiving Devan planned a "Day Date" of different activities. It started with brunch at an airport cafe and vintage arcade games. Then, we drove up to Devan's hometown, Jasper, GA, to visit Burnt Mountain Overlook. After the overlook, we drank wine at a vineyard waiting for the sun to start setting. As sun set we drove to the Reinhardt University Football Field, the best place to stargaze. When we arrived at the field there was a tent set up with twinkle lights wrapped around the poles, blankets laid on the ground, and candles lit. As we walked onto the field we walked past the tent, to the middle of the field where we laid a stargazed together. On our way off the field Devan stopped at the tent to check it out. I was convinced that the set up was for someone else. As he began to get on the blankets I said (in my teacher voice) get off that not yours! To which he responded, "but there is a book down here with you name on it!" Suddenly, things started clicking. I got down on the blankets to read the book. The book was full of stories from our relationship and reasons why Devan wants to marry me. I got to the end, closed the book and said "wow that was so sweet thank you". Devan looked at me baffled and asked if there was another page at the end. I double checked and did not see any other pages. As I looked up from the book, Devan pulled out a ring and popped the question! Totally caught by surprise, tears filled my eyes and I gave him the biggest, joyful, tear-filled YES! After our magic moment a secret photographer emerged from the woods to take pictures of us and we headed off the the surprise engagement party Devan planned with our closest family and friends.
