From Susie: "It was the Tuesday of our vacation in the Outerbanks and we spent the day celebrating my niece's birthday along with my parents' 30th wedding anniversary. My parents and I had planned to do a photo shoot that evening on the beach and I told the rest of the family to get dressed so we can take a full family photo as well! Everyone walked down the boardwalk from our beach house and lined up to take the photo. Just moments later, Darren walked over to me and with tears in his eyes got down on one knee- the rest was a total blur! He managed to surprise my entire family as well as myself! He had planned to do it when everyone was around and he chose the most gorgeous evening for it! It was so special that he proposed on my parent's anniversary also. June 21st is a day to celebrate! My nieces' and nephews' reactions were my favorite. The kids have been asking him for years (literally!) when he was going to propose and they were SO excited. They called him Uncle Darren for the rest of the trip! Now.. the ring. It is beyond perfect. The diamond in my ring came from his Great Auntie Jean's ring. He knows how much family history means to me and the fact he wanted to use something that was passed down is amazing. I just love it so much! It was so special and his whole family was excited to see how it turned out on the new setting!"
