Our story began during our freshman year of high school, when we both found ourselves in the same Latin class after moving to the Asheville area. What started as a simple classroom acquaintance soon grew into a genuine friendship, built on shared experiences and a mutual sense of curiosity. It wasn’t until our junior year, amidst the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, that we began to grow closer. As school transitioned to remote learning and life slowed down, we found ourselves talking more frequently outside of class. Those conversations deepened our connection and laid the foundation for something more. By our senior year, that friendship blossomed into a relationship. Shortly after graduating, we began the journey of long-distance as Kathryn went on to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Jacob enrolled at Milligan University. Though the miles between us have not always been easy, they have strengthened our commitment to one another and allowed our relationship to flourish in ways we never could have imagined. After nearly five years of long-distance, we are overjoyed to begin this next chapter of our lives together—no longer separated by states or schedules, but joined in marriage, side by side.
