We met while both working our part time college jobs at Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department. We were work buddies for a few months before realizing that we were both interested in each other. We started dating in March of 2018, all while still working together and keeping it a secret from our co-workers and bosses! Somehow, nobody suspected anything, and our mama bear receptionist, Mrs. Cindy, was actually trying to set us up, not knowing we were already together. After Spencer left his job at OCPRD to start working his full time job, the word was out and the rest was history.

First off, let's point out that Spencer mentioned the "M" word (marriage) about seven months into the relationship. We have known from pretty much the start that we were going to be married, but through finishing up college, starting new jobs, and moving around Athens and Atlanta, our lives already seemed so hectic and unsettled. Until July 4th, 2020. We went to Creature Comforts Brewery with our parents, planning to have a few drinks before we headed to dinner in downtown Athens. Spencer had been acting nervous the whole afternoon, and just didn't seem like himself at all--talking fast, sweaty palms, nervous laughter--the whole nine yards. When it came time to leave for dinner, we walked outside of the brewery, and Spencer's mom, Amy, requested that we take a picture in front of the brewery. As soon as we got into place to take the photo, Spencer got down on one knee and popped the question! After many happy tears, cheering from bystanders, and a gift of free beer from the Creature Comforts staff (woohoo), we celebrated our engagement at Last Resort Grill with our parents. It was such a sweet and memorable day for us all, and the start to this next new and exciting chapter in our lives!
