FAQs

You probably have a lot of questions. Here are the most common ones we thought of with answers. Let us know if there's anything else you're curious about.
Question

What is the nearest airport to the wedding venue?

Answer

The Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport is the closest airport to the venue and it is about an hour drive.

Question

Is there transportation available in the area?

Answer

We have been told that Uber and Lyft service is limited around the wedding venue, but you'll likely not have any issues getting one from the airport to the venue (or your accommodation). We recommend scheduling ahead for a pickup you'll need back to the airport or renting a car at the airport. You can also reach out to the Monroe County Airport Taxi Service by calling 585-202-8240 or visiting the Taxi Cab Starter Booth at the Rochester International Airport, located in front of the main terminal, center entrance way, lower level.

Question

Where should I stay the weekend of the wedding?

Answer

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Rochester Webster is the closest hotel to the wedding venue and is conveniently located halfway between the venue and airport. You can access a discounted rate clicking on the link to the hotel on the Travel & Lodging section of this website. There are several other accommodation options we have included on the Travel & Lodging section of this website. Let us know if you're willing to share a house with others and we would be happy to link up interested parties.

Question

Are children allowed at the wedding?

Answer

With the exception of a few specifically included children and teens in the wedding party, the wedding and events surrounding it are adults only.

Question

Will there be alcohol available?

Answer

The groom and groom don’t drink, but that doesn’t mean you have to abstain. There will be a cash bar available throughout the wedding day. The bars will be stocked with wine, beer, seltzers, and select hard liquor available for purchase.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Events on Saturday including the Welcome Event, Ceremony, and Reception are black tie optional, formal, or cocktail attire. We kindly encourage guests to adhere to a specific color scheme. For inspiration, consider the floral print on your paper invitation. Colors encouraged are hunter green, olive, silver, burnt orange, lavender, and champagne. We recommend sunglasses for the ceremony as it will take place on the waterfront outdoors.

Question

What is the setting/vibe of the wedding venue?

Answer

The Welcome Event and Ceremony will take place outdoors. The Reception will take place inside a rustic barn on the Oak Park Marina & Resort property.

Question

What time should I arrive the day of the wedding?

Answer

All guests are asked to attend the Welcome Event for mingling and photos with the grooms and their families which begins at 5:00PM. Appetizers will be served and a cash bar will be available. We plan for the ceremony to begin promptly at 6:00PM with the reception happening afterward.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Oak Park Marina & Resort offers free and ample parking onsite on the day of the wedding.

Question

Can I bring a date or Plus One?

Answer

Those designated to have a Plus One will have "Guest" listed under their names while completing an RSVP on the website. Be sure to enter in your guest name correctly so we can provide appropriate seating flair at the Reception.

Question

Will food options be available for those with food sensitivities or allergies?

Answer

There will be an array of food options available throughout the day. If you have concerns or specific needs, please let us know as soon as possible so we can be sure you have a selection to choose from. You can contact grooms directly or include details about specific needs while completing your RSVP online.

Question

Can I take photos during the wedding events?

Answer

We kindly request you keep your phones and cameras out of sight during the ceremony (and leave the capturing to the professionals). You’re welcome to take (and share) all the photos you’d like before and after the ceremony.

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

Yes! We have one wedding registry and that is available here on our Zola website.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

We kindly request you complete your RSVP online no later than July 20.

Question

I've never been to a gay wedding. What should I expect?

Answer

Neither have we. We recommend Googling "Key and Peele gay wedding advice" for some guidance.
