It was a crisp autumn evening at Michigan State University in East Lansing. Kristen and Spencer were nearing the end of fall semester of their (first) senior year of college. They crossed paths on the dance floor of a house party (a co-op party, no less). Yes, they met in the basement of a dingy college house. Spencer courted Kristen with his mediocre dance moves and a six pack of All Day IPAs, a classy gesture for a broke college student. For the rest of that semester they bonded over late nights at the library cramming for finals and common interests: music, drinking craft beer, the great outdoors, and the desire to see the world. What began as a friendship quickly blossomed into a loving admiration for one another. Spencer was (and still is) in awe of Kristen’s unselfishness, humble nature, and unparalleled work ethic. He had never met anyone that worked so hard, and complained so little. It is believed that Kristen liked Spencer too. The following spring, Kristen and Spencer were on a bike ride in the countryside of Ireland. They decided to stop for lunch on the side of a quiet road. It was here, with rolling green hills and bahhing sheep in the background, that Spencer asked Kristen to be his girlfriend. Their love continued to grow as they celebrated one year of dating during a post-undergrad tour of Southeast Asia. They kept learning and growing with each other, all while avoiding real life responsibilities. Kristen still couldn’t kick Spencer when he followed her to PA school in Chicago. After five years, three jobs, two masters degrees, and countless adventures later, the couple left the Windy City and headed for the Rockies with Jameson and Gordie in tow. Spencer and Kristen are so ecstatic to come back to Michigan to celebrate their kinship and love for one another, with close friends and family from near and far by their side!
