We met on a hot summer day at Dragonland Water Park in our shared hometown of Pekin. Spencer was the water safety supervisor on duty that day and I was with a friend at the pool. At the time, I also worked for the park district and had free access to the pool. Spencer came over to say hello to my friend, because they new each other and I was immediately attracted. Later that week I messaged Spencer on Twitter and told him I thought he was cute. Spencer gave me his phone number and we have spoken everyday since. For a short time that summer, we had worked together at Dragonland. We had our first date at Applebees to enjoy the half priced appetizers after 9:00 pm just a few days before we both parted ways to go to different universities 2 hours apart from each other.
Spencer and I enjoy going on walks when the weather is nice to explore the neighborhood and discuss our days. On our 4 year anniversary, Spencer invited me to go on a walk to our favorite spot at a nearby lake. Spencer suggested we sit at a bench and enjoy the view of the sun setting on the water. He immediately began acting nervous and was talking about how happy he was to have me in his life. After a while, I suggested we get up and continue our walk. As I stood up, he went down on one knee and held my hand and asked me to be his wife. Then we went and got ice cream (as our walks usually ended that way).
