In July of 2022, right before their missions (which they both started on July 25, 2022), Kali and Spencer ended up in the same endowment session in the Newport Beach California Temple. This was particularly crazy because neither of them are even from southern California. Spencer remembered being embarrassed he made a mistake during a religious ceremony in front of a cute girl he recognized from BYU. Kali and Merrilee (Spencer's mom) even remember meeting each other and speaking.

We met for real in electrical engineering 301 in the fall of 2024. Spencer was fresh back from his mission, and thought Kali was cute. They became class friends, but Kali was always locked in during class, so Spencer never really had a chance to flirt. There was even one time he complimented her last name being cool and she said "Yeah I love the name Power, so if I ever find a man, I don't think I'd change it". Spencer agreed, saying "as you should", not realizing she had already met that man, and he would be the one to change her mind.
