A quick guide for getting around Santa Monica: transportation and lodging

Flight

LAX

Fly into LAX and Santa Monica is a 20-30 minute drive from the airport.

Travel Note

Lodging in Santa Monica

We have listed below several hotel suggestions that vary in style, amenities, and cost. We do not have room blocks at these hotels, so feel free to search for alternative hotels or even an AirBnB in the same area. In terms of location, you can't go wrong by prioritizing proximity to the beach...west of 4th St between California Ave and Rose Ave.

Hotel

Fairmont Miramar - Hotel & Bungalows

101 Wilshire Boulevard
Santa Monica, CA 90401

The Fairmont is a well-known establishment on the Northern side of Santa Monica. It is close to Palisades Park and shopping at the Third St Promenade.

Hotel

Bayside Hotel

2001 Ocean Avenue
Santa Monica, CA 90405

This hotel is just steps from the beach (!!) and a great pedestrian district (Main St). Recent renovations have given this hotel a modern, fresh vibe.

Hotel

Viceroy Santa Monica

1819 Ocean Avenue
Santa Monica, CA 90401

Another elevated hotel, the Viceroy is only a few blocks from the original Muscle Beach.

Travel Note

Getting around Santa Monica

Renting a car for the weekend is not necessary, unless you plan on visiting sites like the Getty or the Griffith Observatory. Taxis and ride shares will be readily available for transport to/from the airport and wedding events in Santa Monica. If you're feeling adventurous, bicycles can be rented along the beach and many of the larger hotels offer free bike rentals as an amenity to their guests.
