If you want to stick close to the venue, start your day at 321 Coffee! Bundle up and walk around Boylan Heights Historic District. You’ll see some beautiful examples of Queen Anne and Craftsman bungalows. Spencer takes her run club through the neighborhood every once in a while, so watch out for wonky side walks. Next, go grab lunch and a drink at Wye Hill Kitchen & Brewing. Sit outside for a view of Raleigh’s Union Station and watch the Amtraks come and go. Finish up by walking down to the Warehouse district. Don’t forget to mosey into Father & Son Antiques to shop some amazing vintage.
Drive or catch an Uber to our neck of the woods! Start at the NC Museum of Art for some culture. See some of our favs by Rodin, Rubens, and Allori. If you need a scavenger hunt to keep you occupied, ask Spencer for the one she shares with her students on their annual field trip. If the weather is nice, head outside for the many trails. See if you can find the Oval where we watched the most recent solar eclipse! Next, head over to Buffalo Brothers where Danny is an unofficial brand ambassador. He recommends ordering the Jack Chicken pizza well done. Finally, make sure to stop by Two Roosters for dessert!
It would be amiss if we didn’t share a Wolfpack themed day. Head over to Tally on NC State’s campus and pick up a Starbucks. Walk through the Free Expression Tunnel to the Brickyard and adventure through the campus where we met! Bonus points if you open Pokémon Go and battle for the Belltower Gym. Head to Mitch’s Tavern where we planned our 2013 spring break trip for lunch! Or head over to Player’s Retreat for burgers, house chips, and a pickle spear. It’s our firm belief that every successful couple needs a pickle hater and a pickle lover. Guess who’s who in our relationship. 😜 If you’ve got extra time, head over to the Village District for some shopping, and maybe even a Goodberry’s frozen concrete.
