There are two things we can thank for our love story, Hinge and God. As opposed as we both were to downloading a dating app, we would have never crossed paths if it wasn't for it. Before we could even have an actual conversation, Spencer had asked me out on a date for the following day. I immediately said, "yes." The first date might have been as awkward as can be, but we couldn't get enough of each other. We became official 2 weeks later, and the first 'I love you', was only a few days after that in the middle of nowhere in Lockwood Valley. Spencer told me to start looking for rings the next week, and even though it was a joke, I knew that I would be spending the rest of my life with him. We chose to maintain a very traditional relationship, and that's where God came into play. When it was hardest for us, we both learned to turn to God together, building our relationship between us, and our Creator.
Picture a 2 mile hike, 100 degrees, all incline. I thought, "No way did he carry a ring this entire way up here, nor would he have been able to wait a whole week while we were on vacation with his family." I was very wrong. After crossing a 32 degree river, we found the spot we wanted to spend the day and of course Spencer looks over and says, "Go that way and see if you can find our fishing hole, I'll look over here!" As I traversed the hillside looking for fish, I realized I hadn't heard Spencer in a few minutes. I started calling out for him through the pines and with no response (and making a quick pitstop behind a tree), I ran back and found him standing under a tree. He looked like a deer in headlights, but he liked to do this thing where he faked proposing about 4 times. I immediately turned around and said "NO!" Turned a half turn back and saw him on one knee. I can't tell you all that I remember everything he said because I was waiting for the, "Will you marry me?" We got to spend the rest of the day at a beautiful mountain lake, celebrating how much we loved each other.
