In the fall of 2019, autumn leaves weren't the only things falling at UConn. Anika was leading a community service day to set up an overnight camp for adults with developmental disabilities, secretly hoping the trip might lead her to a cute guy. Lucky for her, Spencer had signed up to volunteer. During a work break, he caught her eye by trying to impress the group with his best basketball moves. The campus bus took them back to reality at the end of the day, but Spencer had already dribbled his way into Anika’s heart. That very night, she made the bold move of sliding into his DMs with a classic, "hey." Spencer played it cool with a "Hey, what's up?"—and the rest is history. One thing led to another, and now they are ready to say "I do!"
