Spencer and I met during the pandemic when I moved back to my hometown, Cincinnati, OH after graduating from Clemson University and Spencer moved back to his hometown, Dublin, OH after graduating from the University of Dayton. Our "meet cute" starts off like many others during lockdown. I became roommates with Jacqueline Wessels who attended UD and was close friends with Spencer. I decided to download the dating app Hinge so I could virtually meet new people in Cincinnati. Spencer decided to download Hinge on the same day that summer of 2020. I can still vividly remember seeing Spencer's Hinge profile. His first photo was him jumping, wearing a UD shirt, and he had the goofiest smile plastered across his face. When I saw he went to UD, I immediately messaged Jacqueline and told her I wanted to meet him. Jacqueline reached out to Spencer about me while he was on a boys trip to Gatlinburg and we started communicating shortly after! After a few weeks of texting, we met in-person for the first time in Columbus outside the famous Go Go bar off High Street. The moment I laid eyes on Spencer and gave him a hug, I knew he was my person. We spent the entire night choosing songs together, playing drinking games as partners, and talking about absolutely everything. He made me feel so at peace, which was something I didn't know I had been searching for. I called my sister, Micaela, soon after and told her that I was in love with Spencer and I knew we would spend the rest of our lives together. We navigated long distance between Columbus and Cincinnati for 2 years, spending every weekend traveling to see each other. I moved to Atlanta, GA to attend graduate school in August 2022 and Spencer was my biggest supporter in making that decision, reassuring me that no matter the distance or the time, we would make it work. He was dedicated to making sure I felt supported pursuing my dreams. Spencer made the move to Atlanta 2 years later in February 2024 and 3+ years of long distance was finally over! Since starting our lives in Atlanta, we welcomed Loki, our cat and Nola, our dog to our family. We bought our first home, accomplishing a goal that was years in the making. Spencer landed an amazing job that he loves and I finally made it to the CDC and I am now navigating my new career in the nonprofit sector! We got engaged in June 2025 and are so excited to begin this next chapter of our lives.
