We met through a mutual friend, Carly, while we were all in college. I used to visit Carly a couple times a year and met Matt after he started hanging out with her and her friends our sophomore year. Matt is a couple of years older, so I only got to hang out with him a few times before he graduated. It was during those few times that we grew incredibly fond of each other and would talk about one another to Carly. One of us was always in a relationship so despite how interested we were, nothing ever happened. This didn’t stop Carly from always telling us about how the other was doing and how she thought we should be together. After Matt graduated, we had no reason to see each other until Carly graduated and we both went to San Luis Obispo to celebrate. It was that weekend that we were both finally single and got to mingle. We spent the weekend getting to know each other and hanging out with our friends. Eventually the weekend ended but we weren’t ready to say goodbye. We talked constantly and the more we got to know each other, the more we realized we wanted things to work out between us. We knew starting a relationship out long distance would be hard, as I lived in Los Angeles and Matt lived in San Jose, but that didn’t stop us. We did long distance for a year and a half until I moved to Monterey to finish college. We still lived an hour apart but were able to see each other every weekend. Once I graduated, we moved in together and the rest is history.
