Katie Hrytzik and Nate Spangler first met in 2013 at Slippery Rock University during their time on the third floor of North Hall—Katie as a freshman and Nate as a sophomore. Back then, their connection was limited to awkward waves in the hallway and a few fleeting interactions, never hinting at what was to come. Although there were likely many near miss encounters during the years the pair lived only a few miles away from one another, it wasn’t until an Instagram comment sparked conversation 10 years later that they would reconnect. What followed was long-distance love and countless commutes between Erie and Pittsburgh, strengthening their bond with every mile. Shortly after Katie made the decision to move back to Pittsburgh, life presented unexpected health challenges. With unwavering support from Nate, she emerged stronger than ever. Soon after, the two began building a life together in Hopewell, PA— embracing the adventure of homeownership. On August 27, 2025, as the sun set over the Spangler family farm in West Virginia, Nate asked Katie to spend forever with him. She said yes—and now they’re so excited to celebrate the beginning of their next big chapter with you!
