While attending Capernwray Bible School in England, Emily was assigned to do outreach ministry in a small town in "the middle of nowhere" England. In Jan. 2018, her team of six students came for a visitation weekend and met some of the church staff who were very forward about asking the students who was single and who was not ;) When Emily came back for the full outreach week in Feb. she was "magically" (thanks to Josh's sister- Lucy) placed in the Hogarth's host home. It didn't take long for both Josh and Emily to realize a good catch when they saw one!
Emily moved to England in July 2019 to be closer to Josh and his life there. Thanks to her dual Canadian/US citizenship, she was able to go over on a 2-year Canadian visa which allows her to live and work in the UK. Emily is currently living with Josh's parents, Helen and Geoff. Josh bought his own home in the spring of 2018 and is living alone there until their marriage this summer. After the wedding, the plan is to live and work in England for the near future, while considering a potential move back to the USA someday. Their parents may need to arm wrestle for rights to have their children nearby! ;)
Josh had his work cut out for him in coming up with a proposal idea that would both surprise Emily while satisfying her need to know everything that is going to happen! The day he had set aside to propose, when they were both off work (which rarely happens other than Sundays), turned out to be the day that Emily decided they would celebrate Josh's birthday, all day long! Plan B into motion, and he proposed two weeks earlier, on a Sunday, December 8th. After church, lunch, and an afternoon walk, he got down on one knee in Lytham Square and popped the question. He said "Will you marry me?" and she said "Yes!"
