The Future Fantinis met when Mike was head coach at a local CrossFit gym that Sam joined when she was new to the area. Mike was quiet and "mysterious," qualities that Sam knew nothing about. Piquing her interest, Sam asked Mike out for drinks. This was the year Hurricane Sandy ripped through the Jersey Shore and their first date was delayed by several weeks. Once they both returned to the area, they met at Johnny Macs for drinks and skeeball and the rest was history!

After months of preparation on Mike's end (and anxiety on Sam's), Mike took Sam by complete surprise on a beautiful Saturday night in August. Before dinner, they walked the Atlantic Highlands Marina, looking for a friend's new boat which was supposedly parked at the marina. After looking for "said boat" for several minutes and walking out onto the longest pier at the marina, Mike got on one knee and proposed. After the proposal, Mike & Sam's families were all waiting for them at their favorite restaurant, Copper Canyon, and a weekend-long celebration ensued with their closest family and friends!
