We met in Columbus, OH thanks to two right swipes on Tinder. Grant was in Columbus for the 2016 election and Emily was attending the Ohio State University for her undergraduate degree. Our initial conversation began with an exchange of gifs and ended with an agreement to go on a date in the Short North. Over pad thai, we bonded over our mutual interest in Hamilton and politics, discussed our passions, and even joked about having a long-lost child. We felt an instant connection, almost as though we had been friends for years, and talked for hours-- until Emily noticed that she had 60+ missed calls and texts, including one from the Columbus Police Department! Turns out talking until 2am with a random guy from Tinder on a school night might worry your roommates! Fortunately, Emily did not end up abducted and Grant was not frightened off by Emily's friends' dedication to her well-being. A few months later, as Grant moved out to DC, we decided to try a long-distance relationship and started dating officially. Since then, we have been together through countless flights between Ohio, Texas, and DC, bonded through sharing hobbies (a lot of video games and musicals!), gotten through tough elections, grad school, and now coronavirus, added 2 new furry members to our family, and have shared so many nights of laughter, joy, and love. We can't wait to see what the upcoming years bring and we look forward to celebrating our love with you!
