Things To Do

If you are coming from out of town, please know that there are several things available if you are looking for something to do!

Funny Farm Rescue & Sanctuary

6908 Railroad Boulevard, Hamilton, NJ 08330
, (609) 742-9410

This animal sanctuary is home to 600+ rescue animals and operated by local animal friend and local celebrity Laurie Zaleski. It is open from 8-4 on Sundays for you to go see their wide array of animals from horses and chickens to alpacas and emu. Fun fact: Angel's family had a kitten that Laurie helped care for when she was a baby and her JR Bridesmaid Elli attended Critter Camp here in the summers.

Balic Winery

6623 Harding Highway, Hamilton, NJ 08330
, (609) 625-2166

This historic South Jersey vineyard and winery is open from 11am-8pm on Sundays and offers free wine tastings as well as beautiful outdoor seating where you can bring your own food for a beautiful lunch or dinner looking over the vineyard. This is also where the wine at the wedding was sourced!

The Beach!

Several beaches and boardwalks are within driving distance of Mays Landing and can be quite beautiful and uncrowded in September - South Jersey's local summer. Ocean City is a great family beach that is only about a 30 minute drive away. Other nearby beaches include Sea Isle City, Longport, Wildwood, and Cape May (which also has a free zoo!). Atlantic City is also driving distance if you are interested in going to the casinos.

Various Parks

There are several beautiful parks in Atlantic County. The Estelle manor park offers a raised boardwalk through the woods and along the river, highlighting magnificent greenery in the coastal forest, ruins from historic buildings, and several fishing spots. The Weymouth Furnace is also a gem in the Atlantic County Parks system which features a beautiful river and ruins from an iron mill that helped supply ammunition for the war of 1812. It was later turned into a paper mill, and is now a place where families can go kayaking and grille along side the river.

Historic Smithville

615 East Moss Mill Road, Galloway, NJ 08205
, (609) 748-8999

Historic Smithville features 60 shops, 7 eateries, and several historic sites and attractions. Take a ride on the carousel or train, rent a paddle boat, or pick up some fresh ground custom blend coffee and Irish potatoes. Their operating hours are 11 am to 6 pm on Sundays.
