Mikey and I met through a couple mutual friends. I was attending an Arbone party she was hosting at Barley’s. I really didn’t want to go and had no intension of buying anything but I tagged along. During the party my friend’s husband was at the bar with Mikey. Eventually our makeup party ended and we went to the bar to meet up with her husband. That was the first time we met. Mikey asked if I wanted a shot. I can’t remember who picked it but we ended up with a few fourth of July shots- a fruity shot layered red, white, and blue.
A couple days after meeting Mikey at Barley’s he joined us for my birthday dinner at Stella’s in Bellevue. He paid for my meal and everything. After dinner, I thanked him for buying, hopped in my car and left, leaving Mikey to go home with our friends. Mikey says he thought I was long gone. Ha so did I at the time, I really wasn’t interested. A couple months passed before our paths crossed again. This time I was getting rid of 15-20 computer chairs at work. I posted the chairs online and instantly got a facebook message from Mikey. (Yup I’m a jerk and hadn’t shared my number with him before.) So the chair exchange is when the number exchange officially happened, also when I aquired the nickname chair lady. He said he’d take all of the chairs. I told him first come first serve, you better show up quick, I’m not holding them. In about a half hour, Mikey showed up with Darrell Stegman in his old pickup truck. They piled every chair in the back of the truck, chairs were overflowing the bed and sat tall above the cab. Everyone in the clinic was staring out the window watching the craziness outside. One of the girls said, you better make him take you out. He’s so cute! I sat thinking about it for a minute and thought why not? I texted Mikey and told him he owed me a beer for every chair he took. Then Darrell suggested dinner for each file cabinet. I agreed while not forgetting to tell him I’m a light weight so that’s at least a few dates.
Our first date we met at ScriptTown in Black Stone. It had to be on a whim because I remember being at the gym with Kaitlyn Batt and we left to go get ready at her house. She sprayed my hair down with dry shampoo and I fixed my make up a little before heading to the bar in my dried sweaty gym clothes. Again, I can’t remember why we didn’t plan it out but now being with Mikey I understand the spur of the moment first date. We hit it off and had a lot of fun. This was totally my kind of bar and not Mikey’s but he was such a good sport. So eventually we went across the street to Sullivan’s for some more normal beer (Busch Lite) and met up with Jake Sully. We sat and talked until it got late enough I knew I needed to get home to be up for work the next day. The best part, Mikey sent me a snap on my way home of a selfie of him driving and a police car with lights in the back window pulling him over. I think the caption said something like, “Going to jail tonight.” Luckily he just made a wrong turn and the officer let him off with a warning. He told me I was lucky because he didn’t in trouble. This was the start to our friendship and eventually turned to love. Now look at us!!
Mac was a surpirise! We found out we were expecting in July of 2020, almost a year into our engagement. I was so nervous to tell Mikey but when I did, he held me close and told me we will be great. Mac was born on April 13th, 2021. It was the perfect day and Mikey and I fell in love again, this time with a sweet baby boy. We are so lucky and thankful to share our special day with him.
