Elvis and Sophy met on October 10, 2018 through their campus’ ministry - InterVarsity Christian Fellowship Newark. They got to know each other as friends through going to small group Bible Studies, prayer meetings, telling people about Jesus on campus, attending large group worship events, going to conference retreats, and hanging out with friends. They started to develop feelings for each other as they would spend every Tuesday night waiting for buses to take them to church. On the bus rides, they would talk about their dreams, goals, and what God was doing. They also talked about the type of people they wanted to marry one day - little did they know that everything they wanted in a person was in each other. It was during those bus rides, evangelism moments, and their late nights staying up on the phone texting and praying that they developed a love for eachother in their deeper love for God! After many answered prayers, dreams, confirmations and prophetic words, they were individually considering entering in a courtship. Through all this, their best friend Susan played a major role in opening their eyes to see that they were meant for each other. Elvis finally asked Sophy if they could take their friendship to the next level on August 9, 2020. And Sophy said yes! After months of courting and getting to know each other more, Elvis proposed to Sophy on her birthday in November 6th 2021. By the grace of God, they are ready and excited to enter one of the most beautiful ministries they could ever be a part of - the ministry of marriage.
