Longwood Gardens is one of our favorite places to walk around. Its a HUGE public garden filled with gorgeous plants and trees native to PA. During the Christmas season, they typically have festive decorations. It's a great place to walk around and take pictures. We highly recommend getting tickets beforehand.
The Philadelphia Art Museum is a beautiful historical monument to the City. It is filled with an amazing collection of artwork, our favorite being the Armory section. Even if you don't want to go inside, we highly recommend visiting the Rocky Steps (steps leading to the back of the Museum, named after the movie Rocky). The view is amazing and you can see City Hall from there.
We LOVE Chinatown! It has lots of great restaurants and places to grab a bite. Some of our favorite spots are Bubblefish, Dim Sum Garden, Tea-Do, Nan Zhou Hand Drawn Noodle House, and T-Swirl Crepe. Chinatown (and the restaurants above) are right near Franklin Square, another historical site with Philadelphia Themed Mini Golf!
The event is free and over 110 vendors offer their unique Christmas-giftware and delicious food specialties. It's a great festive place to get holiday shopping done, grab a snack or sweet ("the best cheese fries ever!" -- Sophie), or go ice-skating.
Take a historical tour of Philadelphia! Check out the Independence Visitor Center (free) to learn more about the history of Philadelphia (also the historical site where Emun lost to Sophie in foosball). On the same block, you can also see the Liberty Bell on Market Street (also free) or walk through our famous Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence was signed, right across the street. If History isn't your cup of tea, we highly recommend checking out the Franklin Institute (222 N 20th St, Philadelphia, PA 19103). It is an amazing, interactive science exhibit with a really cool, two stories-tall, human heart!
