Josiah and Sophie met during their high school theatre production of "The Secret Garden" with Josiah playing one of the leads, Dickon, and Sophie being the prop master for the show. Sophie had always loved Dickon's character and the joy he brought to the story. One night it clicked for Sophie that Josiah wasn't really acting, he was the real-life Dickon and brought joy to those around him, and she instantly had a crush on him. The following day, Sophie and her best friend, Kylee, were determined to get Josiah to ask Sophie to his senior prom. Kylee would often invite Sophie to hang out with Josiah's friend group after school so that they could get to know each other more. After a couple of group hangouts, Josiah asked Sophie to go to prom with him. Sophie was beyond excited. The two had an amazing time at prom, which, to this day, Sophie claims was the best night of her life, but Sophie was not sure if Josiah's feelings were mutual. A couple of weeks later, on May 6th, 2021, Josiah finally asked Sophie on a date after she showed up to support him on his Senior Night volleyball. Sophie said yes and hugged him 5x. Josiah had planned their first date and Sophie wanted it to be a complete surprise. Josiah took her to Bru Burger for dinner, walked the canal together, and then went to a friend's open house to end the night. Sophie asked him on a second date to McAlisters where they sat and talked for fours straight until the restaurant closed. The rest was history!
After the wedding, their honeymoon will take place in Nassau, Bahamas. Sophie and Josiah will move to Cleveland, Ohio the following week. There Josiah will attend Kent State Podiatry School, while Sophie works full-time and finishes her last year of school online. Sophie will graduate from Taylor University in May of 2026 and Josiah will graduate from podiatry school in May 2029.
