Faith in Love

We met by accident. You will hear this story multiple time's through the big day but we remember it as fate. We both got literally dragged out by two of our friends to meet for a "double date" that wasn't supposed to become anything. We had just graduated high school both with big dreams of leaving home and starting college. Derrick likes to say it was love at first sight but I always doubt. I was wearing this horrific highlighter pink hat to cover up my bed head because I had no intention of falling in love that evening. We all spent the day together and it just felt so right instantly but of course good things never come easy. He was leaving for Canada the next day to follow his football dreams. We saw each other one more day which we spent in Seattle at Gas Works and that was it, and he was gone. Time went by and I got the occasional text here and there and I even tried to get my enhanced license to go up to Vancouver to see him, but it never happened. a few years went by and he let me know he was moving back to the Seattle from his home in Maui. it was good timing because I was transferring back home for school. Two weeks later he bought a plane ticket and came to visit for ten days! That was April 4th, 2016. He went back to Maui, got a job in Seattle, packed his things and moved out here with me. That's where our love story began and that's why the date is so important to us. Because love stems from hope and ours had to be very strong to conquer distance and faith that god had a plan for us and getting married is our next chapter in this crazy journey!
