August 31st, 2018 Sophia and Danny both attended Oregon State University for their bachelor degrees. While Sophia was a chemical engineer major, Danny was a biology major. Through the Asian Pacific American Student Union at OSU, Danny and Sophia met for the first time. Over the next several years, they worked together on the executive board and became close friends. It wasn’t until after multiple years of friendship, Danny could not hold in his feelings any longer and one night, he came over to Sophia’ apartment with bubble tea and roses and asked her on a date to the Oregon State Fair. On August 31st, 2018 they became official.

July 15th, 2025 The proposal took place on July 15th 2025 at Cannon Beach. On that Tuesday in July, Danny asked Sophia out on a sunset beach date to Cannon Beach, where he told her the weather was really nice and sunny. With a picnic blanket, pizza, charcuterie board, wine glasses, and flowers, they sat on the beach admiring the sunset, food, each other’s company, and the elk that seemed to have magically made an appearance. As the sun was setting, Danny asked Sophia to take some photos at the water. With the tri-pod in place and sunset view as their background, he proposed to her.
