It all started back in 2010!! I was 16 years old, and Stefano was 19. Believe it or not, we met at my church (St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church). Every Thursday night I had GOYA dance practice at my church, and Thursday's are also known as PGBL nights, where the mens league play each other in Basketball. Stefano says he had his eyes on me every single time I would walk through the doors. Meanwhile I didn't even know who he was LOL, I only knew his cousin, George Fisfis. After a couple weeks, George came up to me and told me his cousin really likes me, and wants to take me out. I was sketchy about it at first, but eventually with time, I started to talk to Stefano, and before we knew it, we were a couple! Years passed, and here we are getting married now almost 12 years later!!
It all happened in Dreams Riviera Cancun! 26 Greeks in Mexico, all having a great time together. This was our 5th vacation together, and our first vacation with Stefanos parents! On July 25th, the Dreams team members were setting up a private party on the beach for my parents wedding anniversary. Well, who knew that, that night I was going to be proposed to! The set up was amazing, and Stefs heart told him it was the right time to do it (cute side note, Stefano has had the ring for 6 months, and was waiting for vacation to ask). He had my cousins come and get me off the dance floor (telling me Stef wasn't feeling well) to go check on him. So, I go check on him, and he was telling me was light headed. We then went for a walk on the sand, by the water, and before I knew it, BOOM, he was down on one knee!!!! I was SPEECHLESS! I honestly don't even think I said yes or no HAHA. I started crying into his arms for a solid ten minutes. After, the rest of the 24 family members huddled over us to congratulate us. It sure was the best night of our lives!
Our Engagement Party was at Adelphias. We had family come from Greece, Canada, Ohio, Virginia, and Atlantic City. I was lucky to have my grandparents from Greece come for our engagement party. The last time my grandma was here is when I was baptized, and the last time my grandpa was here, was 45 years ago, when he left this country to move to Greece. We had a wonderful time celebrating with our friends and family. To dancing on the dance floor, to walking around the room and talking to friends and family from out of town, was such a special moment for the both of us. One thing that was very special was the traditional gift exchange the bride and grooms families do. We came home with such beautiful gifts, and memories that will last us a lifetime! We are looking forward to all the wedding festivities!
