FAQs

Question

When should I arrive in Ireland?

Answer

We recommend arriving at least one day before the wedding to adjust to the time difference and allow extra buffer for travel delays. Most guests coming from the U.S. take a red-eye that arrives early morning.

Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Yes. All travelers need a valid passport to enter Ireland. Please ensure your passport is not expired and has at least six months of validity from your travel dates, as some airlines may require it.

Question

Which airport should I fly into?

Answer

Dublin Airport (DUB) is the closest major airport, about an hour from Kells.

Question

How should I get to Kells?

Answer

You can rent a car (automatic cars are limited, so book early), take a taxi, arrange a private driver, or use a shuttle service. Ireland drives on the opposite side of the road, so keep that in mind if renting a car.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

Our venue, Oakley Park House, is located in the town of Kells in County Meath. It is easily accessible from several nearby towns, including Trim and Navan. Please note that due to the Luke Combs concert in Navan on the 17th and 18th, availability may be limited. If you prefer staying in the city, Dublin is just under an hour away by car. If you plan to enjoy the celebrations, we recommend using a taxi or rideshare rather than driving.

Question

Do I need a rental car?

Answer

A car is helpful if you want flexibility and plan to explore before or after the wedding, but it’s not essential. Taxis, Uber, Free Now (Ireland’s primary rideshare app), and private drivers are available as well.

Question

What should I wear to the wedding?

Answer

Our celebration is black tie optional, so formal evening attire is encouraged. Keep Ireland’s weather in mind and consider bringing a cover-up and umbrella for outdoor spaces or photos.

Question

What’s the weather like? What should I pack?

Answer

Irish weather is mild and unpredictable. Expect temperatures in the high 50s to mid-60s during summer. Pack layers, comfortable shoes and a light rain jacket — even on sunny days.

Question

What currency does Ireland use?

Answer

Ireland uses the Euro (€). Credit cards are widely accepted, but it’s helpful to have a little cash for taxis, cafés and small shops.

Question

Do I need a travel adapter?

Answer

Yes. Ireland uses Type G plugs (the same as the UK). A universal adapter works well.

Question

Will my phone work in Ireland?

Answer

Most U.S. carriers offer international plans. You can also purchase a local SIM or eSIM at the airport.
