We met at Cali Roots Reggae Festival in Monterey in 2017. The sun was shining, the music was bumpin', and the joints were crackling - and we're not talking Sam's knees. Although it was a nearly perfect day, we both went our separate ways for a few years. Sam started on his path to become a firefighter while Sophia tried to find her prince overseas. After a few backpacking excursions through Europe, Sophia ultimately realized that she never lost interest in Sam. In early 2020, Sam slid into Sophia's DM's because he too realized that he never lost interest in Sophia. We rekindled our flame on a sunset hike to the top of Mt. Burdell, where we found love at the bottom of a bottle of wine. From that day on, we didn't skip a beat. Our time spent together consisted of more wine and hikes, trips to the coast, and pool days at Jon and Madeline's. We moved in together the following year and have learned a lot about each other along the way - Sophia now accepts that her days will be planned around what sports are on TV, and Sam now accepts that the only room he can decorate is the garage. We knew we were always meant to be together. One love!
Sophia had no idea that Sam planned to propose the weekend of her first Clam-O-Rama - the Morgan family's annual camping trip at Dillon Beach. Sam invited the Stathis family for the day, knowing they wouldn't want to miss what he had planned. The ring was burning a hole in Sam's pocket. He tricked Sophia into thinking everyone was taking a group picture and once everyone was in position for the photo, he got down on one knee and asked Sophia to marry him! She said YES!! The rest of the evening was spent toasting to their love and future together.
