It’s finally happening!

Omri and Sophia met through the restaurant industry while Omri was working for Bourbon Steak in San Francisco. Both dating other people, they became good friends. They lost contact after Omri left Bourbon Steak in 2014. On October 10, 2016, they ran into each other at The Black Cat in SF and just said a quick hello. That night, Omri sent Sophia a message on Instagram asking to grab dinner and to catch up some time. Three years and five days after that text, Omri asks Sophia to marry him.

Omri and Sophia flew to Maui for a planned quick trip with friends. They began the day with coconut mojitos and stayed in timeshare right on the beach. The group decided that each night they would all cook together and watch the sunsets with Pina Coladas in hand. Every night was an epic one so it was hard to imagine how it could get any better. Day 2 came and went and after dinner, Sophia and Omri called it an early night to get rest for the very early morning drive. They woke at 2:30 am the next day to catch a preplanned tour and sunrise on Mt. Haleakala. They reached the summit at about 5:30 am and stood amongst the crowd in 40-degree weather freezing and waiting for the sunrise. Finally!! The sun popped up at about 6:15 am - The views were breathtaking! Sophia and Omri moved closer to the edge of the volcano to try and get that "epic photo". Once there Omri began telling Sophia the sweetest things and then it happened. Omri had dropped down to his knee and popped the question. Sophia immediately began crying. His hand freezing, ring exposed and Sophia bawling like a little baby, he asked her again, "so is that a yes??" Sophia realized she hadn't answered and finally said "YES!!" From many layers of clothing down to swimsuits, Omri and Sophia headed to meet the gang at the beach. Their friends (all knew what was happening) ran to them with hugs, drinks, and got them beautiful Hawaiian wedding lei's. The trip had just got a WHOLE lot better! :)
