Things To Do

Please join us in this pre-wedding season by listening to these songs we're enjoying ❣️ https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2aJMtlnanLzYKhaK3J5C1E?si=1bcfa24f1a674fdb Although there is so much to do in Chicago, we are pretty big fans of our little town too! There is lots to do and eat in Oak Park even if you are not feeling up for venturing into the city. Note: the Chicago marathon will also be happening on October 13th (oops) so we recommend that guests avoid the city on the day of the wedding, as well as most of the Saturday beforehand.

The Broken Tart

1108 Chicago Avenue, Oak Park, IL 60302

We love this cafe for its coffee and especially its baked goods. Luke loves the kale salad scone and Sophie is an avid fan of their savory and sweet biscuits.

Johnnie's Beef

7500 West North Avenue, Elmwood Park, IL 60707

Grab a quick bite at Johnnie’s — a local favorite for hot dogs, Italian beef, and Italian ice. Beware !! Johnnie’s is a cash-only establishment.

Hole in the Wall Custard Shop

901 S Oak Park Ave, Oak Park, IL 60304

A well-loved local favorite, and a frequented spot for Sophie and Luke, Hole in the Wall has the best frozen custard! We highly recommend a big cone of the chocolate custard and a long walk around the neighborhoods.

Oak Park Conservatory

615 Garfield Street, Oak Park, IL 60304

A sweet place to sit and talk or walk through the greenhouses. This is a special little for spot for us, as we got engaged here!

Thatcher Woods

8030 Chicago Avenue, Maywood, IL 60153

This is the best place for a long walk, especially in the fall. We're hoping for good weather so that you can enjoy the sun and colors we have here in October!

Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio

951 Chicago Avenue, Oak Park, IL 60302

Sign up to tour the house, or just walk around the neighborhood to see all the beautiful houses in the historic district. We love going for walks in OP!

Ernest Hemingway Birthplace Museum

339 North Oak Park Avenue, Oak Park, IL 60302

For all of our reader friends, Oak Park was Ernest Hemingway's childhood home and features a special museum about him as an author. You can walk to the Hemingway Bistro from this house for a swanky lunch after!
