Tequila

Just 1 hour from Guadalajara, Tequila is best known as being the birthplace of the drink that bears its name, “tequila,” which is made from the blue agave plant, native to this area. The popularity of the drink and the history behind it has made the town and the area surrounding it a World Heritage Site. It was also named a "Pueblo Mágico" (Magical Town) in 2003 by the Mexican federal government. This little town is perfect for spending the day in its little shops, delicious restaurants and tons of fresh tequila shots!

Andares is a shopping mall in Zapopan, Mexico, in the Guadalajara metropolitan area. This outdoor and indoor shopping center is located in the heart of the city. Anchors are Palacio de Hierro and Liverpool. The project was developed by DMI (Desarrolladora Mexicana de Inmuebles). Andares is one of the biggest mixed-use projects in Latin America, composed by multiple retail areas, 4 office buildings, 2 residential buildings and a hotel. Here, you can enjoy a nice day of shopping, fine dining and so much more!

Chapultepec is located close to the historic center of Guadalajara, which consists of many famous colonial buildings, churches and plazas. It is also close to Templo Expiatorio, a beautiful neo-Gothic church. Outside the church, there is a plaza where you will find a market on weekends selling delicious food items. Another famous attraction, the University of Guadalajara’s Arts Museum is located near the Chapultepec neighborhood. You will find local markets like Mercado Juárez and Mercado Alcade within a reasonable distance from the neighborhood where you can buy fresh fruits, vegetables, and other grocery items.

Guadalajara is a dynamic city with a host of nightlife options. There are traditional cantinas, trendy dance clubs, and live music venues, as well as a flourishing craft beer scene, and cultural offerings galore. Chapultepec Avenue and Zapopan are home to especially lively action after dark, but you’ll find bars and clubs throughout the city. If you’re in Jalisco’s capital and looking to spend a great night out on the town, these are some of the best places to enjoy Guadalajara’s fabulous nightlife!

Tlaquepaque

Tlaquepaque, Jal., Mexico

The name Tlaquepaque derives from Nahuatl and means "place above clay land", the area is famous for its pottery and blown glass. The city was designated "Pueblo Mágico" in 2018. Tlaquepaque is known for its mariachi bands. During the annual San Pedro festivities, El Jardín is filled with stalls and street sellers. On the day of San Pedro itself, towering firework-festooned structures known as the Castillo ("castle") and Toro ("bull") are set alight. Tlaquepaque is also known for its famous tepache, a partially fermented drink made with pineapple, brown sugar and water.
