Our Story

We first met when Jose came to the United States on a full scholarship to play soccer at RCBC. At the time, I was playing on the women’s team. Our paths first crossed at a co-ed soccer fundraiser tournament. We had made it to the championship and were winning by quite a bit. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a girl on the opposing team came charging at me. She shoved me to the ground and started kicking me. Everyone stood there in shock, but not Jose. Without hesitation, he jumped in and pulled her off me. (Even though I had everything under control.) In that moment, he became my unexpected hero. After that day, we had a few conversations, but we didn’t think anything would come of it. He was headed back to Spain at the end of the year. Then, on December 24th, 2021, my favorite holiday, he sent me a message on Instagram wishing me a Merry Christmas. And from that message, something beautiful began. Despite the distance, the time zones, and life happening thousands of miles apart, our connection only grew stronger. Looking back, it truly feels like a miracle that we met at all. With all the choices we could have made, all the different paths our lives could have taken… somehow, a city boy from Spain and a country girl from New Jersey ended up in the same place, at the same time. God truly wrote the most incredible love story, one we never could’ve written ourselves. We are so honored to have you all come together to witness and celebrate this next chapter with us.
