We first met in 2015 at Snowflex Camp — a freestyle snowboard camp in Lynchburg, VA. Jordan had asked for her Snapchat a few days in after thinking she was a cute snowboard girl. We both remember liking each other back then, but with a two-hour distance between us and both still in high school, our conversations eventually fizzled out. In the fall of 2016, Luke, Sophia's brother, persuaded Jordan to apply to Penn State and mentioned that Sophia would be going there too. We texted a little about college, and funnily enough, Sophia almost ended up rooming with Jordan’s prom date! We both started at Penn State in the fall of 2017. On the very first Friday of the school year, we ran into each other at a snowboard club party. Sophia remembers thinking Jordan looked taller (and cuter) than the last time she saw him a year and a half earlier. After a few more encounters that semester, we started Snapchatting again and hanging out after snowboarding — but after a few weeks, we both stopped talking, each thinking the other wasn’t interested. A whole year later, in December 2018, Jordan messaged Sophia asking if she was going on an upcoming snowboard trip to Killington, VT. That message started a conversation that never really ended. During winter break, we found every excuse to go snowboarding at Seven Springs and hang out at the Hidden Valley house that several Penn State snowboard club friends had rented for the winter. We tried to be discreet around Sophia’s brother and friends, but it turns out it was pretty obvious how much time we were spending together. From that point on, everything just felt easy, fun, and full of support for one another. We both knew we had something special, even if it took us a little while to realize it. Over the past seven years, we’ve graduated college together, moved across the country, started new jobs, bought our first home, and tried to enjoy life to the fullest — always together. Now, we’re beyond excited to start this next chapter. But first, we can’t wait to celebrate with our family and friends who’ve been there for us every step of the way!
