Clayton and Sophia lived across the hall from each other freshmen year at UW-Whitewater. Sophia's roommate said she met the guys across the hall and said that Sophia should meet them too! Sophia was very shy & asked her roommate to come with her to introduce herself. Clayton was sitting at his desk and started to ask Sophia questions about herself. Clayton and Sophia became friends over their love for horror movies (including the terrible ones) and music. Sophia and Clayton ended up randomly choosing to live in the same dorm and on the same floor again their sophomore year. Clayton and Sophia remained close friends throughout college having movie nights and singing all night at the bars in downtown Whitewater with their friends. In July 2018, Sophia's parents had a high school graduation party for her youngest sister, Grace, and Sophia invited Clayton and other close friends from college. That night, after 5 years, Clayton finally told Sophia he liked her and Sophia told him she felt the same way. Sophia and Clayton went on a few dates and officially started dating in October 2018. Sophia and Clayton dated for 5 years before Clayton asked Sophia to marry him on his birthday at Sophia's favorite place, Wrigley field, in September 2023.
