FAQs

Question

Where exactly is the location?

Answer

Our wedding ceremony will be held at the Columbia United Methodist Church on East Church St. in Columbia. The reception will be held at the historic Train Depot in Columbia, AL. right down the road from the church. Coming from the church, it will be on left about a mile down the road. If you are coming from Dothan, It is on your right as you come into Columbia off of Columbia Hwy. You won’t miss it!

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

No! We want everyone to feel comfortable in whatever they choose to wear! The ceremony will be indoors in a church, but the reception will be outdoors, so I suggest dress for comfort. If you would like to dress nice for the ceremony, you are absolutely welcome to bring a change of clothes for the reception, as most of the bridal party will be changing into something more comfortable.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Of course! When we send out our RSVPs, everyone will be entitled to bring a date if they choose. We just ask that we have a proper headcount so that we can plan accordingly, so please don’t forget to RSVP when the time comes!

Question

How is parking?

Answer

There will be plenty of parking at both the church and the depot.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

We are planning a 5:30 p.m. ceremony before sunset, so we would like most of our guests to arrive 30 minutes before in order to establish seating arrangements.

Question

Should I expect this wedding to be formal or casual?

Answer

Austin and I are not formal people. We really want our wedding to have a laid back and friendly feel to it. We want it to be simple and fun!! We want everyone to feel welcome and the wedding to be more about all our friends and family coming together to celebrate and less about the wedding itself, for that reason we chose a sentimental location with a simple and quaint appeal.

Question

Will the ceremony and reception be indoor or outdoors?

Answer

Depending on the weather, the ceremony will be indoors and the reception outdoors. With the depot, there will be a smaller indoor option for the reception. The depot has side doors that slide open to allow for a roomy indoor/outdoor feel and allows guests to sit outside or inside depending on their desire, yet still allows for all guests to feel involved. If the weather does not cooperate, we have a strictly indoor option available as well close by.

Question

What type of food will be served?

Answer

We will serve BBQ sliders, homemade mashed potatoes, Mac & cheese and slaw!
